asa Barú 5 Year Old was created as an approachable expression of Panamanian rum, inspired by the elegant, lighter style traditionally associated with Latin America. It combines a light six-year-old column-still rum with characterful Casa Barú pot-still rums, including Geisha Soul, a Sherry Cask Finish component, and rums matured in ex-bourbon and ex-rye barrels. Every component has been aged for at least five years. The result is smooth and beautifully balanced, with soft tropical fruit and vanilla on the nose, followed by subtle floral notes, dried fruit, gentle spice and toasted oak. Medium-light in body, with an intriguing depth and a clean, rounded finish, it is equally enjoyable neat, over ice or in a classic rum cocktail.
